By naming his new musical project "Le collage de France," Rémi Nation (also the founder of the group Orouni) pays homage to the popular and universal spirit that animates the Collège de France – which has offered free courses in all areas of literature, science, and the arts since 1530. At the same time, with his melodic and richly orchestrated pop songs, he asserts a vision of France as a mosaic, a heterogeneous assembly: a reconstitution harmoniously cemented by the republican motto inscribed on school facades. Following up on his first EP ("Rue des boulets," released in early 2023), Rémi Nation enjoys highlighting the ambiguity that constantly inhabits words, conversations, and speeches, and the incomprehension that results. Contrasting the perception of sound ("le collage," meaning collage) with the search for meaning ("le collège," meaning college), he makes pop's obviousness the unexpected medium for a rhyming flow of associations of ideas, not so linguistically distant from some of today's rappers. His songs, as political as they are poetic, speak of relationships between people, their difficulties in getting along, understanding each other, and loving each other. Lend an ear to them; they will reward you.
