For this 14th album, L'ATTIRAIL, still led by Xavier Demerliac, expands its wide-open-spaces music into a Road Trip across the Great Plains. Following a trilogy of a fantasized Great West (FIP selection) and a last opus, 'Footsteps in the Snow' (also a FIP selection), which marked a return to broad influences expanding the group's geographical scope, in an atmosphere where exploration, expeditions, social banditry, nomadism, and gold fever mingled, 'Road to Grasslands' is conceived as a musical road-movie in about fifteen tracks. As always with L'Attirail, the album will feature accessible, imaginative, and transglobal music that, without defending a particular culture, is naturally drawn to the timbres of world music. The tracks will evolve without being unnecessarily complex, with a variety of sounds, rhythms, and tonalities, favoring small arrangements and plot twists without ever becoming verbose. The history of the Great Plains is multifaceted: we will encounter Hobos and other Okies fleeing west after the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, but also a bucolic and rural America, and of course, long straight roads as far as the eye can see, like the famous Mother Road.
