Laszló Hortobagyi (Budapest, 1950 - ) is a Hungarian composer. Beginning in 1976, he collected and learned to play the sitar, tabla, and rudra-vina in India and became the founder of the Eastern Music Archive collection. Since 1967, he has continuously organized expeditions and collecting trips, mainly in North India, with the aim of making on-site recordings, researching musicological and philological sources, searching libraries, archives, and sound libraries, and learning local musical practices.
