The Gleaners by Larry Grenadier is a profound and highly creative work, drawing its influences from many sources. Its title is a direct reference to Agnès Varda's film The Gleaners and I. In addition to his own pieces, including a tribute to one of his early heroes, the bassist Oscar Pettiford, Grenadier here explores compositions by George Gershwin, John Coltrane, Paul Motian, Rebecca Martin, and Wolfgang Muthspiel.
