Bossa Nova: New Brazilian Jazz

Description

Lalo Schifrin, born in Buenos Aires in 1932 and famous for his film and series scores, began as a jazz pianist, collaborating with the greats. His career took a turn after Dizzy Gillespie's visit to Argentina, who invited him to join his band for three years. The album presented here was recorded during this period and features musicians from Gillespie's band, blending jazz, Latin American influences, Spanish folklore, and Bossa Nova, which was then booming after Stan Getz's Jazz Samba in 1962.
