The Lamb

Description

This second album by American artist Lillie West offers a mix of rock and post-punk with dream-pop influences. Lala Lala – the project of Chicago musician Lillie West – signed with Hardly Art. West started LalaLala to talk about things she felt and had experienced until then. Through vibrant songs and cutting lyrics, the 24-year-old songwriter and guitarist casts a nuanced eye on her adulthood. After trying out a handful of new songs on the road, the final form of "The Lamb" eventually emerged for West while she was recording at Rose Raft Studio in rural Illinois. West is accompanied by Emily Kempf on bass and vocals, and Ben Leach on drums. The album's musical arrangements – a mix of post-punk with dream-pop influences, synthesizers, a drum machine, and even saxophone – find a balance between light and darkness, strengthening the dynamic between intimate songs and striking tracks. FOR FANS OF Courtney Barnett, Frankie Cosmos, Dream Wife, Chastity Belt.
