11.08.73

Description

August 11, 1973. DJ Kool Herc organizes a block party at the foot of his building at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx, New York. History will remember this day as the "birth date" of Hip-Hop culture. 11.08.73, these six digits were chosen by Marc Nammour to name his fourth album and mark La Canaille's return to its roots. Surrounded by Jérôme Boivin (bassist for the band Java), drummer Alexis Bossard (drummer for De la Soul in Europe), and Valentin Durup (guitarist for Brigitte and Joseph Chedid), he keeps his fist raised and his voice strong. On 11.08.73, we find protest songs ('République', 'Sale boulot'), storytelling ('11.08.73', 'Rôde'), and lighter tracks like 'Je procrastine' or the luminous 'Jour de fête'. La Canaille restores the true definition of the first two letters of Master of Ceremonies. With 11.08.73, La Canaille wanted to contribute to Hip-Hop culture. This celebration of Hip-Hop is shared with the flavorful wit of JP Manova, the poetic prose of Lucio Bukowski, and the mastery of MikeLadd, a pillar of the late 90s U.S. independent rap scene. Kool Herc, alias Clive Campbell, a Jamaican immigrant in 1970s New York, drew inspiration from dancehall culture. La Canaille, alias Marc Nammour, son of a Lebanese immigrant, based in Montreuil in Seine-Saint-Denis, inspired by Aimé Césaire and Léo Ferré, delivers his own version 44 years later. Detailed pre-order form with marketing and promotional plan to come. For fans of: Casey, Rocé, Lucio Bukowsky, JP Manova, Virus, etc. Double gatefold vinyl version of the album in a 5mm spine sleeve 11.08.73 by rapper La Canaille. Printed inner sleeves with liner notes and lyrics, download coupon included.
