In Tibetan, KYAB YUL-SA means "The land of exile, of exiles, and their resonances." Initiated in 2015 by Tibetan artist Lobsang Chonzor (voice, Tibetan lute dranyen, dulcimer gyumang), the beating heart of this unique ensemble, the trio KYAB YUL-SA draws its identity from traditional Tibetan music. Here, Lobsang Chonzor partners with Margaux Liénard, a violinist and bouzouki player influenced by Scandinavian and Northern European music, & Julien Lahaye, skilled in the intricate playing of Persian rhythm. Together, they transcend the foundations of traditional Tibetan music by introducing new arrangements, inspired by musical languages that interact and enrich each other. …ON THEIR COMMON GROUND WHICH IS MUSIC, THE MUSICIANS OFFER TIBETAN TRADITION A MUSICAL RENAISSANCE WITH A MIXED AND UNIQUE TIMBRE… After Résonance d'Exil(s) / 2017 album, KYAB YUL-SA continues its creative journey with Murmures d'Himalaya: a new repertoire in the form of a journey that traces Lobsang Chonzor's path, from his Tibetan childhood to his exile, including his musical and human inspirations.
