After his collaboration with Courtney Barnett, Kurt Vile is back solo with a seventh album titled Bottle It In.
Recording for the album began in April 2017 in Los Angeles alongside producer Rob Schnapf, with whom he had previously collaborated on the single Pretty Pimpin. They worked together on the album's title track, joined by Cass McCombs, harpist Mary Lattimore, and Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa. Recording continued a few months later, still in Los Angeles, this time with Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, The War On Drugs). Other tracks were then recorded in Portland, Brooklyn, but the core of the project was produced at Tarquin Studios in Connecticut with Peter Katis (Interpol, The National).
Don't worry, despite these numerous producers, the album is cohesive, with Kurt Vile's always fluid songwriting as its common thread. Blending Americana and country folk, this new album brings together all his strengths and should win over new fans, especially with the cover of Charlie Rich's Rollin With The Flow.
