This release features the legendary Krust's original mix and a brand-new remix from Tim Reaper, connecting the genre's roots with its modern resurgence.Kirk Thompson, better known as Krust, is an iconic figure in drum and bass. Hailing from Bristol's vibrant music scene, Krust co-founded the influential Full Cycle Records alongside Roni Size, DJ Die, and Suv. His innovative approach spawned classics like Warhead and Soul in Motion, tracks that have forever left their mark on the genre.London-based DJ and producer Tim Reaper has played a pivotal role in the resurgence of jungle music. Through his label, Future Retro London, Tim has championed a multitude of talents from the modern jungle scene, earning accolades such as DJ Mag's Best Breakthrough Label Award in 2021.The journey leading to this release began unexpectedly: on a flight home from Outlook Festival 2023. Tim Reaper recounts: "I was playing at Outlook Festival in Tisno, Croatia, at one of the Barbarella after-parties with Dwarde, Sully, Coco Bryce, and Blackeye. At the hotel, Bryan Gee spotted us and ended up joining us on the way to Barbarella to see our set, which, to my surprise, he seemed to enjoy!"The next day, as Tim was flying back to London, another chance encounter with Bryan Gee led to a deeper conversation. Tim Reaper recalls: "We ended up at the airport and discovered we were on the same flight, sitting next to each other. During the journey, as we chatted about music, I asked him if there were any plans to release an unreleased 90s track by Krust called 3 Colours Black."While that track wasn't available, the discussion shifted to One Stop Mr Driver, a long-lost 90s dub plate that was never officially released. Tim Reaper explains: "Fortunately, it was available, and Bryan and Krust were both keen to include it on the album with a remix from me. After a long build-up, VFR001 is here!"Mindful of its timeless appeal, Tim Reaper created a remix that preserves the intensity and break of the original while injecting it with modern, sharp production. The fusion of Krust's pioneering sound and Tim Reaper's innovative approach represents the perfect synergy between jungle's past and future.
