V Recordings and Future Retro London by Tim Reaper join forces to unveil One Stop Mr Driver, a track that embodies the raw energy of 90s jungle. This release includes the original mix by the legendary Krust and an unreleased remix by Tim Reaper, linking the genre’s roots to its modern revival. Kirk Thompson, better known as Krust, is an iconic figure in drum and bass. Emerging from Bristol’s vibrant music scene, Krust co-founded the influential label Full Cycle Records alongside Roni Size, DJ Die and Suv. His innovative approach gave rise to classics such as Warhead and Soul in Motion, tracks that left a lasting mark on the genre. London DJ and producer Tim Reaper has played a key role in the revival of jungle music. Through his label, Future Retro London, Tim has championed a wealth of talent from the modern jungle scene, earning accolades such as DJ Mag’s Best British Breakthrough Label award in 2021.The journey that led to this release began unexpectedly: during a return flight from Outlook Festival 2023. Tim Reaper says: “I was playing at Outlook Festival in Tisno, Croatia, at one of the Barbarella after-parties with Dwarde, Sully, Coco Bryce and Blackeye. At the hotel, Bryan Gee spotted us and ended up joining us on the way to Barbarella to see our set, which, to my surprise, seemed to go down well with him!”The next day, as Tim was heading back to London, another chance encounter with Bryan Gee led to a deeper conversation. Tim Reaper says: “We end up at the airport and find out we’re on the same flight, and we’re sitting next to each other. During the journey, while we’re talking about music, I ask him if there’s any plan to release an unreleased 90s Krust track called 3 Colours Black.”Although that track wasn’t available, the conversation turned to One Stop Mr Driver, a long-lost 90s dub plate that had never been officially released. Tim Reaper says: “Luckily, it was available and Bryan and Krust were both up for including it on the release with a remix from me. After a long build-up, VFR001 is here!”Aware of its timeless appeal, Tim Reaper created a remix that preserves the intensity and break of the original while infusing it with sharp, modern production. The fusion of Krust’s pioneering sound and Tim Reaper’s innovative approach represents the perfect synergy between the past and future of jungle.
