On the tour of their latest album Miniature, released in 2022, Ko Shin Moon begins composing again: fragments of melodies emerge, reworked over the course of concerts. Imbued with the raw energy of the stage, a collection of tracks takes shape. Sin is the name given in Mesopotamia to a deity representing the moon. In English, "sin" designates transgression, the breaking of the law. It is in the ambiguity of these possible interpretations and the meanings that seem to escape from them that Ko Shin Moon's fifth album is situated. Sin draws a continuum from dawn to dusk, from the plains to the city, from union to separation, between the desire for transgression and the quest for fulfillment. Ko Shin Moon formulates a musical language made of melodic palimpsests by summoning a multitude of digital, electric, and acoustic instruments. A kaleidoscope of references reveals itself, traversing the various currents of psychedelic and electronic music, and inviting one to transcend eras and geographies. The album, finally, is an introspection; it addresses themes of the forbidden, the quest for the absolute, finitude, speed, and hyper-connection.
