Les Tableaux d'une Exposition d'Après Modeste Moussorgski 1874

Description

This dates back to 1975. The genesis. First, discovering Tarkus and then Pictures at an Exhibition by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, thanks to a friend's older brother (Claude Auberger). At that time, I didn't realize it was a reinterpretation of classical pieces. Then, a meeting: Bernard Bellot, a friend of my mother, an audiophile and music lover, who played me Ravel's orchestrated version of Pictures. And that was one of my first positive introductions to what is called classical music. Bernard introduced me to Satie, Jehan Alain (on the organ), Pierre Henry, and many others. He lent me an oscilloscope, a soldering iron; we built an amplifier—which produced a lot of parasitic noise. He advised me on buying my first "hi-fi system," and it was in Switzerland (we were living in Annecy-le-Vieux at the time) that we went to pick up the Thorens turntable (TD 145, I think, which is still alive and well at Éric Chabert's place) that we brought back clandestinely. There you have it. This record: a kind of much-too-late thank you for various introductions...
