Description

Kaoru Ishibashi is an American singer and multi-instrumentalist, known for his contributions to the bands Jupiter One and of Montreal. He is now releasing his fourth album, Omoiyari. Omoiyari addresses the socio-political turmoil currently taking place in the United States. Kishi Bashi draws a parallel between the current rise of white supremacists and the forced internment of thousands of Japanese Americans after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The strong concept behind this album is supported by a renewal in the artist's musical writing, moving away from the loops that were prominent in his previous records to focus on violins. It is also the first time Kishi Bashi is accompanied by musicians such as Mike Savino (aka Tall Tall Trees) on banjo and bass, and Nick Ogawa (aka Takenobu) on cello.
