Since their debut in 2010 as a Garage band, KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD have chosen collective inspiration as their only guiding principle. For this new album, Paper Mâché Dream Balloon, they expected a work with a heavier atmosphere, recently developed for their live performances. However, Stu Mackenzie, the band's leader, has driven a new creative direction. While I'm In Your Mind Fuzz, their previous album released in 2014, showcased raw Kraut rock sounds, and Quarters! was distinguished by jazzy tones, Paper Mâché Dream Balloon once again affirms the collective's need for sonic experimentation. This seventh album has joyfully taken a new artistic direction and was exclusively recorded with acoustic instruments. The result: a melodic and bucolic pop that honors the legendary exuberance of the Australians.
