Late Night Tales

The Late Night Tales collection was created in 2001. The basic idea: to give a recognized artist the opportunity to select their favorite tracks and complete the set with an exclusive cover made for the occasion. The Houston trio had not yet released an album in 2013 when producer and DJ Bonobo included "A Calf Born in Winter" by Khruangbin in his own compilation for the series, but the band has since become internationally recognized thanks to their immediately identifiable sound palette. "The Late Night Tales series is really special, and we owe part of our current success to Bonobo's Late Night Tales; that's how we entered this family." With a stunning selection of tracks that cross borders and cultures, Khruangbin's interest in global sound grooves—from Asian pop to Nigerian reggae, from smooth Japanese grooves to Latin flavors—is infused with eclecticism. Thus, we move from the Hindu disco "Khushi" by Nazia Hassan to the South Korean rock band Sanullim, from two explosive African tracks to passages through Belarus and Spain, before returning to Texas.
