KEVIN MORBY returns with his third album, Singing Saw, his first release on the Dead Oceans label. This album marks a turning point in the career of the young prodigy with an angelic face and a complicated mind. In the fall of 2014, MORBY moved to the small neighborhood of Mount Washington, in Los Angeles, and began writing Singing Saw on the piano left behind by the former owners of the place. He was inspired by his nighttime wanderings through the winding hills and side streets of the dual city. This duality is reflected in the lyrics of his songs, which he accompanies on his new piano and an acoustic guitar. The album was produced by his longtime friend, Sam Cohen (Apollo Sunshine, Yellowbirds), and recorded at Isokon Studio in Woodstock, New York. With the help and collaboration of a myriad of talented musicians, KEVIN MORBY fulfills the promise many had hoped for on his two previous albums. Singing Saw is about welcoming change with open arms and embracing duality and the distillation of elements to see life with a new perspective.
