On March 7, 1958, John Coltrane and Kenny Burrell recorded five tracks at the Van Gelder Studio for the New Jazz label, accompanied by Tommy Flanagan (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Jimmy Cobb on drums.
Five years later, the public discovered Kenny Burrell & John Coltrane, the summit meeting of the saxophone titan and the jazz guitar legend, whose spectacular interactions illuminated the standards "Why Was I Born" and the bop tour de force "Big Paul," composed by Tommy Flanagan.
This reissue is part of the "Original Jazz Classics" collection: 180-gram audiophile quality vinyl with Obi strip (Japanese-style belly band), mastered from the original analog tapes, original artwork and liner notes.
