Description

« New Avatar » is the album where everything Kelela has aimed for so far makes perfect sense. She started writing her first songs on the indie scene in Washington before club music and electronic production, which marked her debut, took over. With « New Avatar », she comes full circle: a guitar-tinged R&B coexists with new intersections in dance music, resulting in a sound that draws from all the musical influences that have shaped her. The album also includes collaborations with PinkPantheress, A. K. Paul, and Fousheé.
« This album finds its comfort in confrontation, » explains Kelela. « I don’t want the music to distract from what’s really happening in the world; I want it to make sense in this time of madness, while helping people reconnect to the beauty and joy they are also experiencing. »
