The group commonly known as 'Standards Trio' has recorded a considerable number of remarkable records, and 'After the Fall' undoubtedly fits into this long list among the best of them. This performance given in Newark, New Jersey in November 1998 marks Jarrett's return to the stage after two years of interruption. Accompanied by his faithful partners Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette, the pianist typically navigates a few great classics of the Great American Songbook such as 'The Masquerade Is Over', 'Autumn Leaves', 'When I Fall In Love', and 'I'll See You Again'. But there are also three breathtaking covers of bebop landmarks in the repertoire of this exceptional concert: 'Scrapple From The Apple' by Charlie Parker, 'Bouncin' With Bud' by Bud Powell, and 'Doxy' by Sonny Rollins.
