Musician and DJ Kedr Livanskiy was born in Moscow during a pivotal and critical time for Russia. Drawn together by a common interest in music, Kedr and a small circle of friends – Inga Copeland, DJ Spin and DJ Rashad, Legowelt, Death Grips, Florian Kupfer, Dean Blunt – came together. They quickly formed their own community and DIY label, John's Kingdom. No one else was doing anything that matched their aesthetic or ideals, so the collective started organizing their own parties, attendance at which exploded in just one year. For them, it wasn't just about music; it was also a space dedicated to art, videos, and lifestyle. The community continues to expand and grow. Today, it is one of Moscow's most vibrant and authentic communities. "January Sun" is an album steeped in this history, brilliantly capturing this unique scene.
