Discover *Buckaroo*, the debut album from Katzin, a project led by Zion Battle, a 19-year-old artist from New York. This record explores the symbols of the mythologized Wild West—cowboys, horses, vast deserts, rolling plains, ancient rock formations—and projects them onto the delicate transition from adolescence to adulthood. Conceived the summer after his high school graduation, the album took shape during an intensive recording session in Joshua Tree, in collaboration with producer Max Morgen. The result: a resolutely "indie" record, in the vein of early Alex G, Modest Mouse, or even Mercury Rev's *Deserter's Songs*. A rare maturity in songwriting makes *Buckaroo* an album that is both timeless and profoundly contemporary.
