As long as her producer-songwriter Mike Batt is able to write songs for her of the caliber of Nine Million Bicycles, the first single from this second album, which has been making waves on the airwaves for a few weeks now, the lovely Katie Melua, who came from the East like magic, has nothing to worry about. Comfortable in softness (I Cried For You) but able to play the blues (Halfway Up The Hindu Kush, Blues In The Night), Melua also knows how to write on her own (Spider's Web), take on boogie with a smile (On The Road Again) and why not Just Like Heaven, by Cure, which under its arpeggios reveals itself to be a truly great song.
Lighter than air, Katie Melua has no other ambition than to bring a little happiness to those who listen to her songs, a mission very well accomplished here.
