FIFTH ALBUM EXPECTED FROM THE VINTAGE POP DIVA. It was thanks to her mother that the Houston singer discovered the “Great American Songbook” and traditional American songs from the 1940s. And it was in 2002, after an early start, that she decided, when leaving for Austin, to pursue a musical career. That same year, she took part in the second season of American Idol in Los Angeles. She eventually returned to Austin to work in a real estate agency and spent several years singing in the city’s clubs. Finally, in 2005, she made the decision to do ONLY music. Four albums followed, released between 2009 and 2018, notably for the Sony label, reaching the Billboard Top 20, Jazz, and earning praise from the New York Times. After an international tour, notably in Montreux opening for Jamie Cullum, Chris Isaak or Michael Kiwanuka, the singer takes the time to prepare her return with a fifth album still very much in the spirit of Blossom Dearie, who remains her main influence, or featuring the imminent Bill Frisell. With a musical blend ranging from American classics to Asian, African or South American influences, not unlike Youn Sun Nah or Norah Jones, this new project promises a bright future for this fabulous artist.
