Karma Sutra had been active for five years before releasing their sole album, The Daydreams of a Production Line Worker, in 1987 on their own label, Paradoxical Records. Before that, the band had only released a few demos and compilation tracks via Mortarhate. In the studio, their sound evolved: beyond raw anarcho-punk, they incorporated post-punk textures, dark atmospheres, and more accomplished songwriting, to deliver a resolutely political and singular concept album. Recorded at Vibrasound Studio in Sheffield and co-produced by Spon (UK Decay), the album addresses themes such as social class, gender, confinement, culture, and capitalism, from a Situationist-inspired perspective. Largely ignored upon its release, it is now considered a cult album, in the vein of Chumbawamba, The Mob, or Thatcher on Acid. This re-release includes a complete reproduction of the original 28-page booklet, essential for grasping the full conceptual scope of the project.
