1975 marked the year when the American progressive rock band Kansas released two classic albums, Song for America and Masque. Their third album, Masque, is a forty-minute piece composed of 8 songs. It is a concept album based on a mythological theme and well interpreted by the various members of the band. Highlights include the fan favorite "Icarus" and the stunning nearly 10-minute prog epic "The Pinnacle." The album is an excellent addition to any prog music collection. Kansas became popular in the 1970s with hits like "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind." In addition to their well-known ballads, they also recorded impressive progressive tracks. The diversity of their music and the immense energy of the band are among the reasons they continue to perform and record.
