Ton Steine Scherben is undoubtedly the German rock band whose songs remain searingly relevant more than 50 years later. With Staub und Strasse, Kai Sichtermann (bass) and Funky K. Gotzner (percussion), two founding members, pay homage to this legacy while asserting its modernity. Since 2023, they have collaborated with Birte Volta, a sensitive singer and guitarist blending folk, rock, and poetry. Together, they recorded an intense and committed live album, captured during two concerts in May 2024. Staub und Strasse is both a tribute to Rio Reiser and RPS Lanrue, a testament to an ever-present rebellious spirit, and a declaration of love for political, poetic, and resolutely contemporary music.
