Description

German pianist and composer Julia Kadel was born in Berlin in 1986 and currently lives there. She began playing the piano at the age of seven and discovered her passion for jazz music after years of classical training. Devoting herself fully to music, she eventually studied jazz piano at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden in 2009. Before signing with MPS, she had already released two albums on Blue Note - Universal Germany: 'Im Vertrauen' (2014) and 'Über und Unter' (2016). In September 2019, Julia and her trio released their first MPS album 'Kaskaden', which was recorded on analog tape in the legendary MPS studio. This made the trio the first act on MPS after 35 years to record again in the historic studios, and even the famous German magazine Der Spiegel reported on it. Julia Kadel has received several awards and scholarships throughout her career and has performed at international festivals and concerts in countries such as Norway, England, France, Italy, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Russia, Lithuania, and Turkey. Her 2023 album is 'Powerful Vulnerability'.
