Suit Yourself

Description

Continuing her critically acclaimed exploration of jazz and blues, Suit Yourself, the new album by the talented singer Judith Owen, recorded at Esplanade Studios in New Orleans, confirms her gift for elevating the little-known gems of these musical genres. Whether solo at the piano, accompanied by her jazz sextet or her contemporary big band, Judith Owen’s rich and melodious voice is spellbinding, and her interpretations of tracks such as Evil Gal Blues by Aretha Franklin, For You My Love by Nellie Lutcher and Since I Fell For You by Etta James are absolutely captivating. Particularly noteworthy is her duet with Davell Crawford, an iconic figure from New Orleans, on Today I Sing The Blues, as well as the first single, the sensual and refined That’s Why I Love My Baby. Maestro Joe Bonamassa adds a blazing guitar on Mind Is On Vacation while the choir Tonya Boyd-Cannon joins Judith to bring it all home on the gospel-tinged track Inside Out.
