After ending her career as a television comedian at the peak of her fame in her native Argentina, Juana signed with a major label, which envisioned making her the spearhead of a new Latin pop wave, and had her record an overproduced album with a star producer. Juana then decided to find her own way and began working on a second album (which would simply be titled Segundo). The adventure would last four years, involving recording sessions in Argentina and several successive apartments she occupied on the west coast of the United States, a failed attempt to obtain a green card, the involvement of several producers and four different record labels, each of whom had their own idea of the direction Juana should take... Juana remained indomitable, pursued her path, and along the way, developed her personal method and the particular sound that would characterize her music.She writes: "From the moment Segundo took shape, I embarked on a path that I have not abandoned to this day. That is why this album is so important to me. It contains in germ everything I have done since. I understood how to compose in real time, learned to abandon the very concept of a "demo", discovered how to fix and build on these moments of research and discoveries.
