Joulik is a vocal and instrumental trio sailing between revisited traditional songs and creative world music.
Through play and expression, combining virtuosity, simplicity, passion, and sensuality, their music emanates distant landscapes, filled with great emotion.
The voice, borrowing languages from here and elsewhere, blends with the colors of the guitar, oud, cello, mandole, accordion, and percussion that subtly take us into mixed, poetic, or wild atmospheres.
The Joulik concert is a moment of sharing, which places us equally in the magic of listening and in an irrepressible desire to dance.
For about ten years, the Joulik trio has been sketching its sound and colorful travel notebooks, as an ode to the Elsewhere, to mixed languages, and to landscapes imbued with the scent of freedom. The previous album, Envol, expressed a desire to spread its wings to the warm winds of global musical currents.
The new opus, Racines, continues this joyful journey by anchoring it in an imaginary territory, a vast borderless land where the compass goes haywire: one sails from sounds to emotions, from the Mediterranean coast to the Indian Ocean, from Celtic lands to Balkan shores, from Brazilian spray to sub-Saharan echoes.
