The acclaimed saxophonist Joshua Redman makes his debut on the Blue Note label with 'Where Are We', his very first vocal project. For this project, the artist is joined by singer Gabrielle Cavassa, pianist Aaron Parks, bassist Joe Sanders, and drummer Brian Blade, along with special guests Nicholas Payton on trumpet, Kurt Rosenwinkel on guitar, Peter Bernstein on guitar, and Joel Ross on vibraphone.The album is both a celebration and a critique of America. Each song speaks to a specific geographic location in the United States, but it is also, to varying degrees, an album of ballads, an album of standards, an album of romantic nostalgia, an album of social reflection, an album of melodic invention, and an album of improvisational adventure.
