Anne, the EP by Canadian saxophonist Joseph Shabason, is the postscript to the harmonic suite Anne, his critically acclaimed album released in 2018, through which he examined and addressed his mother's struggle with Parkinson's disease. With a small team that includes singer Dan Bejar (Destroyer) and guitarist Thomas Gill (Owen Pallett), Anne, EP highlights the Toronto musician as he builds empathetic spheres of wood and synthesizers, deepening the sentiment established by the 2018 album. In doing so, Shabason further cements jazz, ambient sound design, and new age revivalism into a new genre that is uniquely his own.
