Le grand kalle
Description
Joseph Kabasele, more commonly known as Le Grand Kallé, is undeniably one of the central figures in African popular music. In the tumultuous periods preceding and following the independence of Congo in 1960, Le Grand Kallé and his group Orchestre African Jazz contributed to the genesis of a music that has been the cornerstone of African music, thanks in particular to emblematic musicians such as the formidable guitarist Dr Nico, the singer and songwriter Tabu Ley Rochereau, or the saxophonist Manu Dibango. This double album subtitled Joseph Kabasele and the Creation of Modern Congolese Music includes tracks dating from 1951 to 1970 recovered from old vinyl and 78 RPM recordings. It is accompanied by a 104-page book in English and French. Perfectly written and carefully illustrated, this work allows us to better understand the man that Joseph Kabasele was, his music, and his life.Buy Le grand kalle at the best price
