Major League Blues

Description

At 34, bluesman José Ramirez has already played with the biggest names in the genre, including Buddy Guy, Anson Funderburgh, Janiva Magness, Mark Hummel, Bryan Lee, and Mike Wheeler. José is also the first Latin American blues artist to sign with Delmark. During the historic sessions recorded in the summer of 2021 at Delmark Records' Riverside studio, he received the blessing of 93-year-old Jimmy Johnson and 90-year-old Bob Stroger, two iconic figures of the blues. These sessions with the Delmark All-Star Band confirmed his status as a leading blues musician. Audiences were deeply moved to hear the young Costa Rican trading electrifying solos with the legendary Jimmy Johnson. The album features eight original compositions and two covers of great Chicago blues classics by Magic Sam and Eddie Taylor.
