Heartless Fools is a collection of works exploring the concept of multiplicity and often contradictory ideas. Many tracks were recorded in January 2018 at Greenhouse Studios in Reykjavík, Iceland. Since these initial recordings, the music has evolved through extensive collaborations with musicians from the worlds of jazz, classical music, and pop. The experimental pop trio Square Peg Round Hole, singers Isaiah Robinson and Hanna Benn, and Icelandic cellist Þórdís Gerður Jónsdóttir contributed to the album's recording. While the music itself is not intended to be political, the title Heartless Fools refers to the reaction of two characters to the current political landscape. The first is in a state of shock and grief as he awakens to the realities of this world, trying to make sense of it all. The other, fueled by an imaginary loss of cultural identity, is filled with a rage that drives him to commit inhumane acts. This is reflected in the music as a struggle between order and chaos, contemplation and impatience. The works continuously push and pull, both internally and externally.
