In a world full of hype, potential contenders, and big white hopes, the group Jonathan Fire*Eater is among them. Widely praised as the next "big thing" in the mid-nineties, they are largely credited with being the early purveyors of the "New York Rock and Roll Revival" around 2001. The quintet used a unique blend of reference and reverence for insidious rock and roll, from the Stooges, Modern Lovers, The Scientist, Nick Cave... All markers point to dark allusions. The band was undeniably at its peak with the release of *Tremble Under Boom Lights* in 1996; these songs are perfectly harmonized, which was enough to excite label frenzy and result in a lucrative seven-figure contract for the group. With the 2019 reissue, Third Man Records is proud to make these seminal songs available digitally and for the first time on vinyl. Includes the bonus track "In the Head."
