Wick Records presents the lost album of the 1960s Ohio high school band, Johnny's Uncalled Four. If you are the type to obsessively study the production credits on the back of your favorite albums, chances are you already know John(ny) Golden. Since the late sixties, he has built a reputation as an expert and prolific mastering engineer, credited with thousands of masters for generations of artists, including legendary albums by The Fifth Dimension, Bill Withers, Earth Wind & Fire, Iggy Pop, Sonny Rollins, and Brian Eno. In 1982, while working as an engineer at K-Disc in Hollywood, John was tasked with mastering the single TV Party by punk heavyweights Black Flag — which led him to work for Sub Pop, K Records, Touch & Go, and the entire SST catalog until 1991. In 2011, Daptone Records mastered its first record with John Golden and became a loyal client. Impressed by the old recordings of Johnny's band, Gabriel Roth of Daptone Records agreed to release this lost album. Fourteen tracks of post-Elvis and pre-British Invasion rock'n'roll, without artifice. An extraordinary testament to the ingenuity, hard work, and foresight of a true artist, Johnny Golden.
