Founded by four high school students in Sens, Johnny Mafia quickly built an unshakeable reputation as a live act. With over 450 concerts to their credit, they have won over audiences across France and beyond.
After three significant albums, Johnny Mafia has become the spearhead of a constantly evolving French music scene. Their second album, "Princes de l'amour", recorded by Jim Diamond, was widely praised by the specialized press. But it was with "Sentimental", their third album, recorded at the Warmaudio studio under the guidance of talented producer Kris Banel, that the band reaffirmed its uniqueness.
"2024: Year of the Dragon", the fourth album by Johnny Mafia, was recorded and produced by Francis Caste (Bukowski, Flying Pooh, Kickback, Aqme, Hangman’s Chair). They chose him after listening to their last album by Pogo Car Crash Control that he had produced. "We wanted a cleaner, clearer, more powerful sound while still being more 'Pop' like in metal," confides Johnny Mafia. "At that time we were looking for a studio that would allow us to go in that direction and we contacted and met Francis Caste thanks to Pogo Car Crash Control, we hit it off right away. He brought us a lot thanks to his recording method and also musically as he is a musician himself, drummer, guitarist, and singer." They were able to find the sound that would suit this album best.
