Tom Tykwer discussed the composers’ work on The Matrix Resurrections. “There is a powerful, distinct musical legacy here. In my opinion, The Matrix Trilogy is one of the greatest scores of all time. And what is particularly fantastic is that it was also, to my knowledge, one of the first film scores to draw on electronic music and connect it to progressive and decidedly modern orchestral music. It launched a movement, which we are paying tribute to with this music. And yet this film is playful and emotional, with a complex development, open in every direction. Johnny and I felt that our challenge for the music was to pay tribute to the The Matrix lineage and also support this cinematic enterprise of expansion and this legacy to explore new directions. This must be represented in the music and that is what we are trying to explore musically.” Johnny Klimek explained: “We spent several months working on material for The Matrix Resurrections, building the main themes, developing alternative arrangements and electronic variants. We had a lot of fun blending electronics with the classical orchestra. Technology has never been so far advanced since I started composing for films.” The Matrix Resurrections - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack includes the 24 tracks composed for the film by Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer, mastered for vinyl and pressed on 2 Black 180 Gram Vinyl, with original artwork by Mondo creative director Mo Shafeek.
