Johnny Dynamite is a post-punk group from Philadelphia, signed to Born Losers Records. Over the course of its first three albums, it has established itself as a concise storyteller and songwriter. The characters in its dreamlike universe are lucid, exuberant, and imbued with a latent nostalgia. Over dark, atmospheric instrumentals, its poignant vocals and lyrics paint a portrait of lost youth, desperate romanticism, and teenage rebellion. Dynamite blends different genres and weaves connections between various fringes of underground culture, skillfully mixing sophisticated new wave with unifying rock'n'roll. Its rhythm-focused production incorporates punchy drum machines, guitar riffs typical of the 80s, and ethereal retro synth pads.
