One might think that the world is small enough now to know a punk rock legend like Johnny Black (aka John Black), who lives and is active in the New York area... and also in Europe. He got his start in clubs like CBGB and in 1990, an obscure album was released under the name JOHNNY BLACK EXPERIENCE, which has long been out of print. With the famous actor Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos, among others), he put together the show WHO KILLED JOHNNY THUNDERS ? and recorded two songs with Walter Lure, guitarist of Johnny Thunders And The Heartbreakers. Johnny Black was in the thick of the action instead of just being there. In fact, he has been so busy with gigs in recent years that he did not concern himself with an album already produced. It’s incredible, not only because of the quality, but also because with Daniel Rey, it’s a renowned producer who is at the helm! Known for his work with the Ramones, the Misfits, Gang Green, Rhino Bucket or Masters Of Reality ("Sunrise On The Sufferbus"), he has given the untitled record an organic and transparent sound with plenty of authentic power, bringing the feel of a sweaty club into the living room at home. A masterstroke! While today’s punk is often mass-market pop, or conversely turns into hardcore, Johnny Black serves up the original American school. Plenty of rock’n’roll and (as they say today) classic rock, but also the boldness and attitude of punk and garage rock. Golden Core/ZYX Music are proud to have secured the release of the CD and LP!
