Recorded live in concert in 2002 in Birmingham, Tramonto presents British pianist John Taylor (1942-2015) in a festive and extroverted atmosphere, accompanied by American musicians Marc Johnson and Joey Baron. The repertoire includes well-known pieces by the pianist such as "Pure and Simple", "Between Moons" and "Ambleside", as well as the Ralph Towner piece that gives the album its title and "Up Too Late" by Steve Swallow, constantly oscillating between be bop and free jazz.
