Halloween Kills Ost

Description

In 2018, David Gordon Green's Halloween, starring the icon Jamie Lee Curtis, crushed the box office, grossing over $250 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing chapter in the four-decade franchise. The film was notable for being the first in the series with direct involvement from creator John Carpenter since 1982's Halloween III: Season of the Witch. He served as executive producer, creative consultant, and, most excitingly, composer of the soundtrack with the help of his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies. The masters of terror are back in the studio for the highly anticipated sequel, Halloween Kills, and take this iconic soundtrack, which forever changed the course of horror cinema and synthesizer music, even further. The soundtrack for the 2018 Halloween film received unanimous praise and brought a rich and unsettling depth to the original musical theme, which had been recorded on a shoestring budget in 1978. The trio used a wide range of synthesizer software, vintage analog equipment, and instruments including a Dave Smith OB-6, an EBow guitar, a Roland Juno, a Moog, a Roland System 1, a Roland System 8, various guitar pedals, a mellotron, and a piano. With Halloween Kills, the director pushed the musicians to be more experimental and take their sound to a new level of horror. Remarkable tracks like "Unkillable" and "Rampage" feature synths sliding over a 4/4 bass rhythm, creating a real psychosis before guitars crash into the song, causing confusion as to whether to dance or run for your life. More tragic pieces like "Michael's Legend" and "Strode's at the Hospital" introduce exquisite and delicate piano playing and demonstrate the full range of orchestration the team is capable of executing with the greatest mastery. Like all of Carpenter's legendary soundtracks, Halloween Kills offers incredible music that, like his Lost Themes trilogy designed for imaginary films, can be enjoyed with or without the context of the film.
