40 years ago, Bill Evans and Jim Hall recorded two brilliant duo albums, “Intermodulations” and “Undercurrent.” Andy Laverne and John Abercrombie, whose collaboration dates back to the late 1960s, were inspired by the Evans-Hall recordings and experimented with this format. Andy LaVerne notes: “Over the years, we have collaborated as a duo many times, in concerts, club gigs and workshops. I think Bill and Jim gave us a wonderful example of what the piano/guitar instrumentation could achieve.” This LP, although it is neither a recreation nor a copy of the original piece, is an evolution of its predecessors.
