On the occasion of the launch of its new label "Audible Beauty," Habibi Funk is releasing a series of previously unreleased albums from the Malaysian national jazz radio RTM. This will be followed by a promotional series with FIP, France Musique, Jazz mag, and Jazz News around this creation and its first releases. These editions include detailed notes, previously unseen archival photographs tracing the life and legacy of the artists, as well as a gatefold vinyl accompanied by a 40-page booklet with in-depth essays and historical documents. This second release is a major collection that chronicles the history of Malaysian jazz through 7 tracks by the legendary composer, arranger, and trumpeter Johari Salleh. Salleh played a crucial role in shaping the sound of modern Malaysian music, whether on radio, television, in cinema, or live performances. Throughout his long career, he composed dozens of popular songs. His personal passion for jazz shines through in this curated selection of previously inaccessible recordings, unless one owned one of the rare locally pressed copies from the 70s. The album not only highlights his status as a composer but also as a remarkable trumpeter, blending jazz, spirituality, and Malaysian folk motifs.
