Joey Alexander has come a long way since his breakthrough on the music scene in 2015 as one of the youngest piano prodigies in history. At barely twelve years old, he stunned the world with his prodigious talent and received praise from the entire jazz community (Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, etc.). He appeared on Yann Barthès' French TV show "Le Petit Journal" and received significant media coverage for his debut album released by Motema. While he performs standards with style, he also composes his own themes, driven by an incredible inspiration. His new album, "Origin," proves this, and Joey is writing the next chapter of his career: composer. His long-standing trio, consisting of Larry Grenadier and Kendrick Scott, is the backbone of his creative freedom. The accomplished saxophonist Chris Potter and lyrical guitarist Gilad Hekselman join him to bring to life Joey's first album composed entirely of original music (and his first for Mack Avenue Records).
