Joey Alexander has come a long way since his emergence on the music scene in 2015 as one of the youngest prodigies in the history of piano.
At barely twelve years old, he amazed the entire planet with his prodigious gifts and received praise from the entire jazz world (Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, etc). He notably appeared in France on Yann Barthès' show "Le Petit Journal" and received significant media coverage for his first album released by Motema. While he interprets standards with style, he also composes his own themes, driven by an incredible inspiration. His new album "Origin" proves this, and Joey is writing the next chapter of his career: composer. His long-time trio, consisting of Larry Grenadier and Kendrick Scott, is the backbone of his creative freedom. Esteemed saxophonist Chris Potter and lyrical guitarist Gilad Hekselman join him to bring to life Joey's first album entirely composed of original music (and the first for Mack Avenue Records).
