THE DREAMER (2 vinyls)

Description

IN THE HEART OF THE NIGHT, 'THE DREAMER' LETS US HEAR THE INFLUENCES OF BEAK, MATMOS, PATRICK WATSON, CHET BAKER OR ENNIO MORRICONE. Like TILT, its predecessor, 'The Dreamer' is built on instrumental tracks with progressive forms that move forward and never look back, but this time, it also features songs that lead us through the acoustic vertigo of a full moon party on a beach, before plunging into the electrifying phantasmagoria of an imaginary and elusive love. Joce Mienniel wanted this album to be as acoustic as it is electric, as fragile as it is brutal, as muffled as it is metallic, and he built it as an immersive sound journey playing on auditory persistence. "THE EX-FLUTIST OF THE ONJ LEADS AN EXCITING QUARTET." --- MATHIEU DURAND - JAZZ NEWS ---. "A new electrifying and deeply poetic album inspired by dreams, 'The Dreamer'. The extraordinary flutist, singer, and composer deploys the breadth of his creativity, exploring rare musical territories and pure and saturated aesthetics. A total immersion in a captivating sound universe." --- JAZZ MAGAZINE ---. After the black and even, like the outrenoir paintings of Pierre Soulages, of TILT, the first album by this quartet in which the music revealed an infinity of details in this color to the point of revealing a greater luminosity, THE DREAMER chooses a more polychromatic and incandescent light this time for this new album. Inspired by several dreams, each track, whether sung or instrumental, tells here the dreamy swirls of a full moon night, or the phantasmagoria of an imaginary love, and passes through the chromatic movements of baroque and progressive music. It's a true soundtrack to an imaginary film, taking us on a journey into the deep blue night. Electronic, acoustic, electric language, the sound of this orchestra is a sonic immersion all its own. The poetry of the lyrics and the orchestration of the voices blend with the textures of the organ and piano played with a mute to make the whole even more mysterious. The power and sharpness of the flute and drums, combined with the saturated accents of the electric guitar, awaken and challenge this deep night atmosphere. The taste for discovery means expanding one's musical influences and exploring many extended techniques on the flute and other instruments to combine them with electronic, progressive rock, and minimalist culture. Constantly collaborating with artists from all over the world from very diverse musical cultures, this group has assimilated a synthetic language of its own, to convey an urban musical landscape, a poetic, dreamlike, and mysterious world, a universe of trance often close to tribal music.
