A true legend of vocal jazz, unfortunately too often overlooked, the crooner with the eternally youthful voice, Jimmy Scott aka Little Jimmy, passed away in 2014 at nearly 89 years old. Having worked alongside iconic figures such as Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, and Lionel Hampton, his reputation was primarily built around two albums released in the 1960s, yet this did not lead to the popular recognition that matched his talent. After a grueling 30-year desert crossing marked by racism and poverty, he returned to the studios in the early 1990s with the help of Madonna and her producer Seymour Stein, musician Lou Reed, and renowned director David Lynch. The poignant and powerful I Go Back Home, his posthumous album, brings together the artist's last recordings, who was affected by Kallmann syndrome (absence of pubertal development).
