Fanny Vicens goes against the grain of these options. She has the audacity to propose the Goldberg Variations on an instrument more than a century later than the writing of the work. However, this is not an adaptation but a transfer, a transliteration that remains scrupulously faithful to the text. The musician is on a mirrored path: the work acts as a revealer of the instrument, and the nature of the instrument embraces the intention of the author who explicitly writes for a two-manual keyboard.
